Apply for REAP with Lasso
The Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) provides financial assistance to agricultural producers and rural small businesses for renewable energy systems and energy efficiency improvements. The program aims to promote energy independence and sustainability in rural areas.
Who’s eligible?
Agricultural producers with at least 50% of their gross income coming from agricultural operations.
Small businesses located in eligible rural areas.
What projects are eligible?
RES (Renewable Energy Systems)
◦ Solar Generation
◦ Wind GenerationBiomass
◦ Biodiesel and Ethanol
◦ Anaerobic Digesters
◦ Solid Fuels
◦ Geothermal
◦ Hydropower (below 30 megawatts)
◦ HydrogenOcean (tidal, current, thermal) generation.
EEI (Energy Efficiency Improvements)
◦ High Efficiency HVAC Systems (heating, ventilation and air conditioning)
◦ Insulation
◦ Lighting
◦ Cooling or refrigeration units
◦ Doors and windows
◦ Smart Thermostats and other energy management systemsElectric, solar or gravity pumps for sprinkler pivots
◦ Switching from a diesel to electric irrigation motor
◦ Replacement of energy-inefficient equipment

Terms:
Grants cover up to 50% of the total eligible project costs.
Documents needed for pre scoring:
Project bid OR project details: system size and system cost
Utility bills: Last 12 months of utility bills for all your meters
Brief pre-scoring questionnaire
Residential use: Is there any residential energy use on-site? If so, is the residence on a separate meter?
Project Site control: What entity will apply for the grant? What entity owns the project site? What entity is named on and paying the energy bills? If different, what is the relationship between them and your business?
Previous REAP grants: Have you received a REAP grant or loan before? If so, when?
Owners of the company: Whether any of the owners are: veteran, American Indian or Alaska Native, Asian, Black or African American, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, or non-male. If so, share their percent ownership to determine eligibility for state director priority points.
Fund availability: Confirm that you have the necessary funds for the system (cash, loan, or credit line).
Federal Debt: Do you have any outstanding delinquent federal taxes, debt, judgment, or debarment?
